Robert Henry Peterson
January 5, 1936 - September 25, 2024 (Age 88)
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert Henry Peterson (Rock Hill, SC), who passed away on September 25, 2024, at the age of 88 peacefully at home.
In the small mountain town of Popular, NC. Robert was born to the late Pete and Bertha Bennett Peterson on January 5, 1936. He was the grandson of Melton and Lynda Miller Bennett and Logan and Frances Bailey Peterson. He graduated from Popular Elementary School in Popular, NC and Tipton Hill High School in Tipton Hill, NC.
He served in the U.S. Air Force (1954-1958). He enjoyed fishing, hunting and a big fan of the Carolina Tar Heels.
He is survived by his pride and joy, his family: His wife Martha Sherer Peterson, daughter of late Harry E. Sherer. A daughter Anita P. Buckley (Pat), twin granddaughters Kasey B. Norris (Wes) and Brandi Buckley, grandson Dustin W. Buckley “BoJack”, and great grandchildren Kansas Norris, Braylee Grayson, and Kaylee Grayson all of York, S.C. His sister Lucy Peterson and Jewell Dean Hoosier, brother U.G. Peterson (Phyllis), sister-in-law Kathyrn Peterson, and brother-in-law Arley Hoosier. A host of nieces and nephews. As well as his beloved canine companion Ginger “Sassy”.
He is preceded in death by sisters Hazel Hughes, Lena Hughes, and Alice Hoosier. Two brothers M.L. Peterson and Alfred Peterson.
Graveside service will be at 11:00am on September 30th, 2024 at Grandview Memorial Park, Hollis Lake Rd Rock Hill, S.C.
Family will receive family and friends at the home 4018 Woodleigh Dr. Rock Hill, S.C.
