Robert Holtzer
October 31, 1947 - December 2, 2025 (Age 78)
Robert W. Holtzer, 78 of Newport News, VA, formerly of Greensburg died at his home on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. Born in Greensburg, on October 31, 1947, he was a son of the late William and Barbara Holtzer. Prior to retirement, he worked as a Senior Structural Engineer at NN Shipyard, where he specialized in aircraft carrier overhaul. He has been called "a savant" by many of his co-workers for his skill, knowledge, and dedication. Laboring in all areas of the aircraft carriers, he had hands on every component, from the belly of the boat to the top of the mast and received many awards for his hard work and dedication. Outside of work, he loved muscle cars, classics cars and sports cars, and his beloved Harley Davidson motorcycles. In later years, sudoku puzzles became his favorite past time along with his small muted tortie cat, named "Cat". He was a stoic man with a sense of humor and a smidge of sarcasm that made anyone laugh. More than anything, Robert loved his family, especially his late wife, Mary Beth (Irvin) Holtzer. He is survived by his children, Alicia Roberts and husband Jason, Yvonne Swierkosz and husband Joe, and Tim Rorabaugh and wife Maria; grandchildren, Emily Dinges and husband Josh, Joseph Swierkosz, and Aiden Roberts, and Cassie, Alexandria and Jordan Rorabaugh; 13 great grandchildren; siblings, Marylin “Sis” Palangio, Kathy Hicks, and Jim Holtzer; and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 10 am to noon Tuesday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. Funeral services will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday at noon. Entombment will follow at Westmoreland County Memorial Park.
