Robert J. Matura

Robert J. Matura, 97, of Irwin died Monday September 27, 2021 in Golden Heights, Irwin. He was born August 16, 1924 in Pittsburgh a son of the late Michael and Susan (Boldy) Matura. Prior to his retirement he was employed as a welder for US Steel Braddock Edgar Thompson Works for 40 years. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, in Irwin and a WWII veteran serving with the United States Marine Corp where he fought in the Battle of Iwo Jima . In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers Andrew and John Matura and sisters Ann Holka and Mary Stetz. Surviving are his wife of 74 years Antonetta (Morrone) Matura; three children Teresa Campbell and her husband, John, of Trafford, Michael Matura and his wife, Mary, of England and Susan Thomas and her husband, Lew, of FL; grandchildren Christine, Rebecca, Lisa, Lew, Rebecca and Ashley; six great grandchildren. Friends will be received Friday 2- 4 &6-8 p.m. at the Ott Funeral Home Inc 805 Pennsylvania Avenue Irwin. Funeral Service will be held Saturday at 1130 am in the funeral home.
