Robert Kneisel Sr.

June 30, 1949 - December 24, 2025 (Age 76)

Robert J. Kneisel Sr., age 76, passed away on December 24, 2025. He was born on June 30, 1949, in Brooklyn, New York.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lillian (O’Connor) Kneisel.

He is survived by his children Laura (Greg) Sichi, Robert (Katherine) Kneisel, and Michael (Brittney) Kneisel. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jonathan, Cailynn, Christian, Gabriel, Elliot, and Linkin; step-grandsons Beckett and Auron; his great-grandson Oliver; his brothers William, George, James, and John Kneisel; his beloved dogs Kona and Kubota; and many lifelong friends.

The eldest of five brothers, Robert grew up in Brooklyn and later raised his family in Columbus, Ohio, where he built a life centered on family, hard work, and generosity. He was a devoted and loving family man, and a deeply involved brother, father, and grandfather. If you were part of his family, Robert was always there for you—steadfast, supportive, and present.

He will be remembered for his steadiness, generosity, kindness, and strong work ethic, qualities that left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. Robert approached life with quiet strength and consistency, earning the respect and love of family, friends, and colleagues alike.

Robert dedicated more than 30 years of service to American Electric Power (AEP), where he was known for his professionalism, innovation, and leadership. Among his many accomplishments, he was the first person to bring AEP onto the Internet, a milestone that reflected his forward-thinking approach and lasting impact on the organization.

An avid runner, Robert completed dozens of marathons, including multiple New York City and Boston Marathons, a testament to his discipline, determination, and lifelong commitment to personal challenge.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 9, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Tidd Funeral Home, Hilliard, Ohio.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 10, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Westerville, Ohio, with burial to follow immediately after.
