Robert L. Dent, Sr., also known as Bob or “Bear”, 79, currently of Claridge, PA, passed away October 26, 2026, to be with our Lord. He was born February 24, 1947, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late William and Helen (Duckworth) Dent. Bob was raised and spent the majority of his life in Jeannette and following graduation, he enlisted in the US Army. He was proud to be a Vietnam veteran and was also a member of the American Legion Post #344 in Jeannette.
Prior to his retirement, Bob was employed by the General Tire Company in Jeannette (later renamed GenCorp and OMNOVA during his tenure there) as well as Advanced Auto Parts and as a custodian at Jeannette City School District. Growing up he was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Jeannette, and most recently was a member of Word of Life Church in Greensburg.
An avid fisherman, he spent many days with his friends and family at the streams, rivers, and lakes. Working on the line crew for the Jeannette High School Football team, he enjoyed watching all of his children play a variety of sports and later loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He had a fondness for oldies music and watching old westerns. Most importantly, he was a devout Christian, always demonstrating kindness for others with a genuine love, a tender smile and sense of humor. When asked to leave words of advice for his beloved family, Bob expressed: “My words of Wisdom would be love God, stay close to your family, and love one another.”
In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his brother Thomas Dent.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Joyce Seelnacht Dent; children, Dr. Brandi Binakonsky (Jeremey), Bobby Dent, Jr., (Stacey), and Michael Dent (Jacqueline); grandchildren, Elijah Binakonsky, Brenden Dent, and Roman Dent; his twin brother William “Bill" Dent (Daneen), and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In honor of Bob’s wishes, funeral services and interment in the Jeannette Memorial Park will be private. The John V. Graziano Funeral Home Inc., Jeannette are entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to the Word of Life Church-Greensburg Missionaries. https://wordoflife.church/
