Robert L. Middleton
June 23, 1937 - November 5, 2022 (Age 85)
Robert Lee Middleton, of Charlotte passed away Saturday, November 5, 2022 at the age of 85. He died peacefully with his family by his side.
Robert was born in Hickory, NC to James Franklin and Raleigh Lee Middleton. He was the youngest of five sons and two daughters. He entered the Navy at the age of 17 and later married his high school sweetheart Peggy and they were married for 67 years. They had one daughter Tanya. When he left the Navy, they came to Charlotte where Robert joined the Charlotte City Fire Department rising to Captain before retiring with 34 years of service.
Robert was proceeded in death by his parents; brothers James Middleton, Espen Middleton, Ernest Middleton and Marvin Middleton; sisters Betty Thompson and Dorothy Middleton.
He is survived by his wife Peggy and daughter Tanya (Darnell); grandchildren, Andrea Silverthorne, Julie Silverthorne and Mark Silverthorne(Brandi); great grandchildren Joshua perez, Kendall Heinen, Isabel Perez, Christian Silverthorne, Annella King, Jackson Silverthorne, Griffin Silverthorne and Finley Silverthorne. Great great grandchildren Novalle and Kayden.
A visitation will be held Friday November 11, 2022 from 1:00 Pm – 2:00 Pm at Robinson Presbyterian Church and a Celebration of Life at 2:00 Pm. Burial with Military and Fire Department Honors will be at 3:00 Pm at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Rd Charlotte, NC.
Michael Cummings will officiate. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to Robinson Presbyterian Church where he was a long-time member and served on the session.
