Robert Leo Kirby
February 3, 1929 - March 15, 2024 (Age 95)
Robert Leo Kirby, 95 of Zanesville, passed away on March 15, 2024, at the Morrison House in Zanesville, Ohio.
He was born on February 3, 1929, in Coshocton, Ohio, son of the late Russel Kirby and Waverline Kirby. Bob was regarded as a truly unique individual by all who knew him.
He was the proud owner of Kirby Electric most of his adult life and took meticulous care to produce the highest quality work. His customers became his friends. His passion was exercise, whether on his Gazelle trainer or challenging someone to do a prone press. He enjoyed teaching Judo at the YMCA, OUZ, and Muskingum College for many years. He also chose to share his faith with people by giving them a small book called, ‘Jesus Calling’. Bob was often heard saying, “no doubt about it!”
When asked what he attributed his long life to, he would say, “it must be all the supplements I take”. He took no pharmaceuticals until his final year of life.
Bob had 3 children. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Christopher Kirby; daughter, Susie Harpell; and longtime companion, Mirem Rose Buzza.
Bob is survived by his sister, Patty Luallen; daughter, Cathy McKinley.
No calling hours or service will be held at this time. A dignified cremation will take place through DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home. Bob will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
