Rock Hill – Mr. Robert Scott Kennington, 56, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Lakewood Baptist Church, with Rev. Jerry Devinney officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park – Hollis Lakes Road.
Born in Rock Hill, Scott was the son of Juline Miller Kennington of Rock Hill and the late William Walter Kennington. He was also preceded in death by his unborn grandchild. He was a US Army veteran serving in the 82nd Airborne Paratroopers. He was retired from the SC Highway Patrol with 24 years of service. When he retired, he was a supervisor with the region 3 motorcycle unit which covered the York, Chester and Lancaster areas. He was a member of the SC Highway Patrol Honor Guard and Lakewood Baptist Church.
In addition to his mother, Scott is survived by his wife, Amelia Lynn Hedtke Kennington; his son, Craig (Taylor) Kennington of Rock Hill; his daughter, Kerrigan (Justin) Fite of York; his granddaughter, Riley Kennington; his brother, Steve (Lynn) Kennington of Oak Island, NC; his sister, Susan (Bobby) Baker of Rock Hill; and his beloved dog, Titan.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm-7:30 pm on Friday, January 14, 2022 at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Scott’s name to Lakewood Baptist Church, Building Fund, 3520 Mt. Gallant Rd., Rock Hill, SC 29732.
