Robert Smith Sr., age 75, of Donora, PA, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2024, at Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital in Carroll Twp., PA.
He was born January 29, 1949 in Clairton the son of the late O.V. Smith and the late Mary Borreggine Smith.
Robert was a veteran serving with the U.S.Army during the Vietnam War. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal and the Bronze Star Medal.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Barbara Jean Smith.
Surviving to cherish his memory is his wife of 54 years Susan (Phillips) Smith; a daughter Amy (Christopher) Thorpe of Carroll Twp; a son Robert (Marilyn) Smith Jr. of Virginia; four grandchildren Kelsee Cooke, Zachary Cooke, Brittney Banai, and Aiyanna Clarke; a sister Rita Kiczan of Glassport; three brothers, Orlando Smith of Elrama, Richard Smith of Virginia, and Patsy Smith of Donora; also many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Anthony L. Massafra Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc., 40 Second Street Extension, Donora, PA 15033 (724) 379-6900 where the family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, October 8, 2024. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, October 9, 2024 with Pastor Jeff Marton officiating.
Interment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora, PA
