Robert W. Hood

Robert W. "Bob" Hood Sr., 66, of Herminie No. 2, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2022, in Forbes Hospital, Monroeville. He was born March 7, 1956, in Mt. Pleasant, son of the late Samuel and Alice (Schultz) Hood Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda K (Hinish) Hood, in 2000; infant sister, Alice June Hood; and four brothers, Roy, Myrl, Pat and Sam Hood. Bob was an Army veteran, serving in the National Guard. Prior to his retirement, Bob was a mechanic, having worked for Bill Feltes in Herminie and also Dave's Welding. He loved working on cars and especially lawnmowers, teaching his grandson his trade. He loved watching Westerns and listening to Johnny Cash. He was a member of the Herminie VFW Post 8427 in Herminie and the Wendel Herminie No. 2 Athletic Association. Bob is survived by his daughter, Michelle Hood and fiance, Keith Loughner, of Darragh; son, Robert W. (Megan) Hood Jr., of Greensburg; special grandson, Brandon Bolam; sister, Betty May Kiser, of Stahlstown; sister-in-law, Lois Hood, of Herminie; and several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Bob will be dearly missed by his family, friends and neighbors. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA 15637, 724-446-7251. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home. Interment with full military honors will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township.
