Roger Broadwater
March 3, 1943 - October 11, 2025 (Age 82)
Roger E. Broadwater Sr., 82, of Shrewsbury, PA, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Forest Park Nursing Home, Carlisle with family by his side. He was born on March 3, 1943, in Deer Park MD to the late Eston D. Broadwater and Ethel A. (Howell) Broadwater.
Roger attended Valley High School in Allegany County, MD. Before completing high school Roger signed up for the United States Armed Forces. He served his country for three years. While stationed in Germany, Roger met his first wife Evelin E. (Schubert) Broadwater. They had four children together. With the skills he learned in the Army, Roger worked in manufacturing as a maintenance mechanic. In 2004 Roger retired from Pall Corporation in Timonium, MD. He worked there for more than 20 years. During the time he worked at Pall Corporation he met his former second wife, Marilyn K. (Simmons) Linder. They had a daughter together.
Throughout Roger's life he enjoyed working on cars and doing construction work around his homes. He was quite a carpenter. His first home he added a basement and a second story. His second home he built a deck, an enormous shed with the help of his sons, and a garage. When Roger was growing up on the farm, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He always enjoyed fishing, up to the point when he could no longer drive. Roger also enjoyed collecting cards, stamps and coins. One of his favorite pastimes was riding his motorcycle on beautiful days down long country roads. And last but not least, we can't forget how much fun Roger had going to casinos and bowling with his youngest daughter Nichole.
Roger is survived by his son, Roger E. Broadwater Jr. of Shrewsbury, PA, daughters Angela D. (Bruce) Barnes of Stewartstown, PA, Nichole E. Broadwater of Shrewsbury, PA, brother Mahlon Broadwater of Pahrump, NV, sister Elaine Norris of Cumberland, MD, and sister-in-law Marlene Broadwater of Barton, MD. He had seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Roger was preceded in death by his daughter Sandra L. Broadwater, son Stephen S. Broadwater, parents Eston and Ethel Broadwater, sisters Brenda S. Broadwater and Ruth L. (Charlie) Hayes, and brother Carroll E. Broadwater.
Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 17, 2025, in the Chapel at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 11128 Cash Valley Rd., NW, Lavale, MD 21502.
