Ronald L. "Shotgun" Shumaker
April 15, 1950 - June 22, 2021 (Age 71)
Ronald "Shotgun" Shumaker, age 71, of Charlotte, North Carolina passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 2021.
Ronald was a proud military veteran, as well as his father, uncles and brothers. He served in the US Army and fought in the Vietnam War.
"Shotgun" as he was known, retired as a Captain from the Charlotte Fire Department. He was a member of the Newell Volunteer Fire Department and the Newell Masonic Lodge.
One of Ronald's favorite past times was fishing at the beach.
He survived by his wife Carol Shumaker and their three sons; Frank Shumaker and wife Cheryl, Kenny Shumaker and wife Melanie and Brian Shumaker and wife Kathy; 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
A visitation for "Shotgun" will be held Saturday, June 26, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227. Funeral services will follow at 1:00pm in the chapel at McEwen. Ronald will then be laid to rest with honors at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests memorials be sent to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
