Ronald Lee Althouse

November 5, 1940 - February 20, 2024 (Age 83)

Ronald L. Althouse, age 83, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. He was the husband of Evora B. Cramer Althouse. He was born in Lancaster, son of the late Isaac N. and Genella (Nellie) E. McGuigan Althouse, and graduated from Manheim Township High School. Ronald started his career as an apprentice at Graphic Crafts and then became employed by RR Donnelley and Sons, where he remained until his retirement. Ronald was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Lancaster (where he met his wife). He was an usher, helped with the food bank for many years, and served as a trustee, as well as serving on many other committees. Printing was his passion. He had his own print shop in each home where he resided until his stroke in 2021, and did small jobs for the community. He also, along with his wife, Evora, sold wedding invitations to many local couples. He volunteered for the Heritage Press in Lancaster and was a member of the 918 Printing Club. His other hobbies included collecting joke books (he owned at least 1000), coupon collecting,shopping and finding bargains, fishing, photography and computers. He attended many computer shows in his prime. Surviving besides his wife are 4 children: Susan wife of Blaik Westhoff of Willow Street, Rob Althouse of Pequea, Rick Althouse of Lewisberry, Elaine Potts of Willow Street, 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and a sister, Joyce Tout of Florida.

Funeral service will take place from The Ellingworth Auditorium at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community, 625 Robert Fulton Hwy, Quarryville, on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 11 am with a viewing time from 10 am until time of service. Pastor Arthur Rettew will be officiating. Interment will be in Riverview Burial Park at approximately 2pm. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to QPRC Benevolence Fund, Attn: Kathy Sutherland, 625 Robert Fulton Highway, Quarryville, PA 17566, or to The 918 Club, 346 N. Queen Street, Lancaster, PA 17603. The family would like to express their sincere thanks for the awesome care and support provided by the staff at QPRC, as well as his team at Hospice and Community Care.
