Ronda Graves Mathis

January 11, 1955 - December 21, 0021 (Age 1933)

Ronda Mathis, 66, of Canton, Ohio passed away on December 21, 2021 after a brave and courageous battle with Covid.

Ronda was born on January 11, 1955 and is now reunited with her loved ones: parents - father, Richard Spears; step-father, Augustus (Gus) Graves; mother, Geraldine Graves; brother, Melvin (Gus) Graves; sister, Jacqueline Smith; cherished son, John “Peanut” Graves; grandmother-in-law (her birthday partner), Laura M. Rodgers (Mudear); mother and father- in-law, Tommie and Sarah Mathis; nephew, Leslie Durell Smith; niece, Elisesha Mathis; great nephew, Antwon Mathis.

Ronda is survived by her caring husband of 31 years (41 year relationship) Charles “Steve” Mathis, with whom she shared a deep love and mutual support. She is also survived by the pride and joys of her life – son Jerome Graves (Chandra Birl); granddaughter, Journee Graves, and grandson, Jaafar Graves. Ronda also leaves to cherish her memory sisters Cherlyn Graves and Marva Collins; brothers-in-law, Emmitt (Denise) Mathis, Lonnie Mathis, Tommie Mathis, Earnest (Sherry) Mathis, Michael Smith; sister-in-law, Chris Mathis Smith, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, friends and clientele.

Ronda studied Managing Cosmetology at National Beauty College in North Canton. After graduation, she landed her first job as a stylist at Nancy’s and the Sly Touch beauty salons. She then went into business with her beauty school friends Duchess Walker and Bernadine Ellis where they founded Headturners Beauty Salon. Ronda and Bernadine owned and operated Headturners for 31 years.

Ronda without question truly knew and loved the Lord. She was patient, kind, not jealous or conceited, not proud or provoked – she didn’t keep a record of wrongs, was not happy with evil and was pleased with the truth. Ronda never failed in faith, hope, patience, and love; and the greatest of these was love.

Our beautiful Ronda has returned to her final home. She will be truly missed, however never forgotten. Her affectionate Smile, Passionate Personality, and Singing Voice will always be remembered in our Hearts.
