Rosa Hairston transitioned December 5, 2021. Family will receive friends on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Church of Christ of the Apostolic Faith, 1200 Brentnell Avenue, Columbus, Ohio. Interment: Franklin Hills, 5802 Elder Road, Canal Winchester, Ohio.
Elder Rosa Lee Hairston, 77, passed away on Sunday, December 5 after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family. Rosa was born in Kimball, West Virginia on July 20, 1944, to the late Junior Freeman and Edna Richardson. Rosa was also preceded in death by her husband James Hairston and brother Carl Freeman.
Rosa is survived by her children Natalie Hairston and Ronald Price of Ohio; sisters Thelma Mitchell of Maryland, Priscilla Parnell of California, Rolinda Woods, Shirley Brant, Teresa (Eric) Moore all of Ohio and Rene (William) Wilson of South Carolina; brothers James Freeman, Clarence (Marian) Richardson, Joseph (Annette) Richardson, Clarence Freeman all of Ohio, and Keith (April) Freeman of California; grandchildren Ronald Lamont Walton, Ronald Price, Jr., Lawyon Price all of Ohio, and Ronald Thomas of New York. Rosa also leaves to cherish her memory a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.
Rosa married the love of her life James on June 5, 1982, and they were blessed with over 39 years together. Rosa held many positions in her career, most notably working at the Honda manufacturing plant. Rosa owned a daycare business where she was an integral part in teaching early development skills and shaping young lives. Rosa was a long-time member of Zion Christian Assembly, founded by Bishop William Polley, where she served as an adult Sunday school teacher. Rosa was also a member of the senior citizen auxiliary, picture committee, took part in the Blessed and Happily Married Ministry and assisted with various plays and programs.
Rosa had a calling on her life and became an ordained minister. Rosa had a passion for writing plays, acting, directing, and putting the final production together. She started a production company R. H. Sacred Productions. Some of her plays include, “After Church is Over”, “Can You Reach My Friend”, and “Christmas at Grandma’s House.” She believed in trying to reach lost souls for Christ. She also enjoyed cooking and was known for her delicious sweet potato pies. Rosa loved making wreaths, flower arrangements, center pieces, decorating and making other creations. She loved spending time with family and friends most of all.
