Rose Smith
August 20, 1930 - June 20, 2024 (Age 93)
Rose Panaia Smith made her final journey into Gods loving arms on June 20, 2024. Rose was born in Akron, Ohio on August 20, 1930, to the late Angelo and Mary Marchette Panaia. Rose was devoted to John “Don” Smith for 62 years, Mother to Michael (Nancy) Humphrey and Jodi (Michael) Lepi, Grandmother to Casey (Amelia) Lepi and Kadi (Jamison) Addy and Great Grandmother to Lincoln, Layla, Hazel, Oscar and Lia.
She loved being a mother, especially to Jodi who was her best friend and she loved her so much. There was never a more dedicated and loving, Mother-in-Law, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and friend. Her world revolved around Casey and Kadi. She also enjoyed crocheting and knitting, her passion for making baby blankets will live on through the many children who were wrapped in a blanket from her loving hands.
Rosie was an amazing cook, famous for her spaghetti and meat balls and Italian sausage (Casey is the only one she would give the recipe to). She had a special way of making mac and cheese for the great grandkids, no one did it better.
For more than 40 years, Rose took care of the books for First Impressions Hair Perfections salon for Jodi. She also cleaned the shop, washed the towels and purchased the shop supplies. She told Jodi at 93 years old that she was going to retire in January, what a work ethic to be copied.
Rose was a kind and gentle soul, and she will be missed by family and friends, especially her dear friend Lil and her dog Susie.
In addition to her parents, Rose is preceded in death by her husband Don Smith, her son Michael Humphrey, her sister Yollie, her brothers Vince and Philip.
She is survived by her daughter Jodi (Michael) Lepi, her sister Madaline DeSimone, Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.
Rose was devoted to her faith; she was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church.
