Rosemarie S Magill, 88, a lifelong resident of Youngwood, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Forbes Regional Hospital. She was born in Youngwood on April 10, 1936, second of three daughters to the late John P and Anna (Tkach) Shimko. She graduated Youngwood High School, valedictorian, class of 1954. She was married to her high school sweetheart, the late G. Thomas “Fuzzy” Magill, for 63 years until his death in 2019. They raised four children, Brenda (Todd) Buerger of Ligonier, Dr. Bradley (Teresa) Magill of Punxsutawney, Beth Ann (Rustin) Fluke of Youngwood and Brooke (David) Kapustik of Lower Burrell. Five grandchildren: Thomas, Alexandria, & Noah (fiancée Paige) Magill, Ryan Buerger and Collin Fluke who lovingly knew her as “Grammie”. She also is survived by her two sisters; Kathleen (Geoff)Guenther of Rancho Palace Verdes, CA. and Margaret Shimko, with whom she shared her home. “Rosebud”, as she was fondly known, was a woman of great generosity and strong faith. She volunteered at the Youngwood Elementary School Library and the Youngwood Library in the 1980’s. She then became the Secretary for St Luke’s Lutheran Church in Youngwood, a job she dearly loved for many decades. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, particularly for the preschool classes. She was involved in all her kids' activities, especially Hempfield Band, and attended many of her grandchildren’s sports activities and music events. Rose was a great fan of Pittsburgh Penguin hockey and could be heard cheering her “boys” with a loud “He shoots and scores!...”. She loved her family’s camping trips to St Marys and was present for all 54 annual trips. Trivial Pursuit games would last into the wee hours of the night with her enjoying her kids and grandkids. She loved to have fun! Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 5, from 2-4 & 6-8 pm, in the C. Richard McCauley Funeral Home Inc. 101 S 4th St., Youngwood.
