Rupert L. Mangum Jr.
November 2, 1935 - January 27, 2026 (Age 90)
Rupert Mangum passed away at the age of 90 at home surrounded by family on January 27, 2026. He was born on November 2, 1935 in Rock Hill SC to Rupert Leon Sr. and Mary Zelda Mangum. He is preceded in death by his sisters Ophelia Sanders, Sue Vick, and Harriet Glen, along with his parents. Rupert graduated from Rock Hill High School. He served in the Army National Guard for four years. He then went on to work and retired from Westinghouse after 25 years of service.
If you knew Rupert, he was an avid Gamecock and Bearcat fan. At one time he was the longest member of the York County Gamecock Club at 42 years. Rupert was an avid member of his church, leading the bus ministry, kitchen, serving in the nursery, and as an usher. Surviving is his wife, Barbara Jean Mangum, his only daughter Rhonda Devinney (Rev. Jerry) and step-daughter, Lisa Carroll; his two grandchildren, Amanda Oakes (Joshua) and Joshua Devinney (Bethany) as well as his great-grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, Easton, Lily-Ann, Abigail, and Charleigh and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Lakewood Baptist Church, Friday, January 30th at 2:30 pm. Family will receive friends from 12:30 pm-2 pm. Graveside will be held at Grandview Memorial Cemetery at Hollis Lakes Rd following the service. The family would like to say a special thank you to Pam Sturgis and Donna Guyton for all the care and support through this time. Also, a special thanks to Marcy, Greta, and Joy at Providence Care.
