Ruth Mary Ellen Miller

October 14, 1941 - August 10, 2024 (Age 82)

Ruth Mary Ellen “Myrtle” Miller 82, of Shady Lane, Westernport, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 10, 2024 at Moran Manor Nursing Home, Westernport.

Born October 14, 1941 in Lonaconing, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Ollie (Tichnell) Custer. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Michael; sisters Katherine Marchinke and Virginia Darlene Green; her brother Charles “Bugs” Custer; sister-in-law Shirley Custer; and brother-in-law, Ron Gage.

She is survived by her sister, Helena Gage, Arizona; her children, Schelotta Kight and husband Bill, Westernport; son Gary Miller and wife Stacy, Piedmont; and son Richard Miller II, Westernport; her grandchildren, Justin Miller, Piedmont, Brittany Dye and husband Logan, Keyser, Jenna Folk and husband Brady, Keyser, Joey Pase, Piedmont, Sami Jo Kight and Michelle Kight, Westernport; her great grandchildren Mila and Maeven Folk and Elaina Dye and a special cousin, Joann Allen. Also, numerous nieces and nephews.

Ruth was a member of the First Baptist Church, Westernport. Ruth worked as a housekeeper at Moran Manor Nursing Home for 30 years, where she made many friends. She was a former member of the Potomac Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and life member of the VFW in Yuma, Arizona. She spent 2 years in Arizona living with her sister and brother-in-law, Helena and Ron Gage until Ron’s passing. She returned home to be with her children. She was a devoted and loving sister, mother and grandmother. Ruth’s laugh was contagious and her personality added an always fun environment wherever she was.

The family would like to thank Moran Manor Nursing Home and UPMC Hospice for the care they gave to her during her illness.

Friends will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton on Tuesday, August 13th from 4 to 8 p.m.

A funeral service will take place at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton on Wednesday, August 14th at 1:00 p.m. Friends are welcome one hour prior to the service at 12 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the First Baptist Church, Westernport.
