Sadie Lois Phillips

Our beloved Mother and "Grandmommy," Sadie Lois Crump Phillips, passed over to her heavenly home, Nov. 30th at Matthews Novant Hospital with her family by her side.

Sadie was the heart of her family and was deeply loved by all who knew her. Her life reflected devotion and love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a gentle soul, with a servant's heart who lived life to encourage others. Sadie was born in Lancaster, South Carolina, on October 9, 1938. She attended East Mecklenburg High School, class of '57. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert Lee "Bob" Phillips. They had 3 sons and 1 daughter.

In her early years, she worked at a hosiery mill in Charlotte. She worked at Delmar Photo Lab in Matthews for a time. Later, she made custom draperies from her home in Mint Hill. Sadie worked at Quality Equipment and Supply Company, a family business, alongside her husband Bob for many years. The occupation she enjoyed most was working at Bain Elementary School in the cafeteria. She was well known and loved by the children, staff, and parents who enjoyed her delicious cookies and cakes. Ms. Sadie always enjoyed interacting with children at school, at church, and especially her grandchildren and great grands.

She was active in her church, and had many friends. Everyone at Wilson Grove Baptist Church loved "Ms. Sadie". She especially enjoyed her Sisters-in-Christ Sunday School class, and Craft Ladies. If anything was happening at church, she was usually there! She enjoyed cooking, doing yard work, camping at the beach with her family, babysitting her great grands, and going to a Tuesday morning Bible study group at Connect Church with her daughter.

Sadie was preceded in death by her parents, L.P. and Lela Crump; her husband, Bob; her son Russell; and two sisters, Carolyn Hill and Pat Spivey. She leaves behind a daughter, Sandra Murphy (Brad); sons, John Phillips (Kathy) and David Phillips; her grandchildren, Sarah Blue (Josh), Katie Prater (Scott), Justin Phillips (Debbie), Allison Mode (Justin), Laura Buchanan (Ryan), and Travis Phillips (Heather); great grands, Brayden, Brylie, Bryce, Lauryn, Emerson, Wyatt, Skylar, Hadley, Nolen, Adalynn, Charis, Colten, Hudson, Juliana, Griffin; and sisters, Nancy Mullis (Ralph) and Judy Dixon (Jerry).

Sadie has always pointed her family to the Lord in times of joy and sadness. You could not ask for a greater prayer warrior. She left behind the legacy of giving thanks in all things to her family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 5, 2024 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Wilson Grove Baptist Church, 6624 Wilgrove Mint Hill Rd, Mint Hill, NC 28227. Funeral services will follow 12:00 PM. Sadie will be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Rd, Mint Hill, NC 28227.

In lieu of flowers, family is requesting memorials be sent to Novant Hospice, Samaritans Purse, or Wilson Grove Baptist Church.

The family would like to thank everyone at Novant Matthews Hospice Unit for their exceptional care of Sadie.
