Cumberland, MD – Samuel Franklin Bailey, Jr., 80, of Cumberland, MD, passed away Monday, July 24, 2023, at his daughter’s home.
Born May 6, 1943, in Baltimore, MD, Mr. Bailey was the son of the late Samuel Franklin Bailey, Sr., and Alma Lourine (Sayre) Bailey. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Donna Rae Bailey; and his brother: John Bailey.
Sam was a 1961 graduate of Washington Irving High School in Clarksburg, WV, and retired from CSX Railroad with 41 years of service. He is survived by his daughter: Vicki Hoover and husband, Richard, LaVale, MD; and his grandchildren: Grant and Clay Hoover. He is also survived by his sister-in-law: Bonnie Bishop; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, on Friday, July 28, 2023, from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 P.M., with Reverend Bernadette Ross officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
