Samuel Ritson Jr

Samuel J. Ritson, Jr., 84, of Greensburg, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2024, at his residence. He was born April 8, 1939, in Hempfield Twp., a son of the late Samuel J. Sr., and Dorothy Havranek Ritson. Prior to his retirement Sam was employed by the Helms Trucking Co. in Irwin and was a member of the Teamsters Local #30. He was a veteran having served with the US Army Reserves. Sam enjoyed hunting and fishing at his camp in Clarion County, and was an avid sports fan and enjoyed following the Pittsburgh teams, especially the Penguins. Sam also coached youth baseball.

In addition to his parents Sam was predeceased by his wife Delores Huffman Ritson in 2007; a brother John Ritson; a sister-in-law Susan Ritson; and a brother-in-law Ted Richardson.

He is survived by his children, Daniel Ritson (Lori), Douglas Ritson, Tracy Kisiday (Matt), all of Greensburg, and Matthew Ritson (Paula), of Jeannette; grandchildren, Angela Harmon (Matt), Jesse Kisiday (Elle), Matthew, Ryan, Joshua, Noah, and Lakyn Ritson, and Savannah Kisiday; great grandchildren, Emma Harmon and Evelyn Kisiday; a sister Cheryl Richardson of Jeannette; brothers, Richard Ritson of Adamsburg, and Robert Ritson (Patty) of Greensburg; several sisters-in-law on his wife’s side of the family; numerous nieces and nephews; and his cat Smitty.

Sam’s family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the nurses at Westmoreland Hospital, and the nurses and staff at Hempfield Manor for all of their kind and compassionate care.

Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm Thursday in the John V. Graziano Funeral Home Inc., 228 North 2nd St. Jeannette. A funeral liturgy will take place 10am Friday in the funeral home chapel with Deacon William Newhouse presiding. Interment will follow in the Westmoreland Co. Memorial Park, Hempfield Twp.
