Mrs. Saundra Adkins Trader, 66, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2024 at her home surrounded by the people she loved.

Born in Rock Hill, SC on March 9, 1958, Saundra was the daughter of the late Mason and Emma Adkins.

Saundra was a dedicated advocate for veterans and a cherished family woman. Her life was one of service, joy, and deep commitment to the causes and people she held dear to. She spent 5-6 years working in Veterans Affairs, where her passion for supporting those who served was evident in all she did. She was actively involved with the VFW Post 2889 Auxiliary and the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion, spending countless hours to uplifting veterans and their families. She was a volunteer with the VFW, Saundra, alongside her devoted husband Darold, placed flags on veterans’ graves, honoring their sacrifices with deep respect and gratitude.

Beyond her work with veterans, Saundra was well-known throughout York County for her talents as a DJ. She had a deep love for music, and had a beautiful voice. Her passion for music brought joy to many.

Saundra is survived by her loving husband Darold Trader; her sisters, Brenda Craig and Pat Wilkerson; her son, Kenneth Wayne Sturgis Jr. (Courtney Simmers) and step-son Dru Trader (Rhonda), and her beloved grandchildren, Aaliyah Peoples, Khloe Sturgis, Drake Trader, Chase Martin and Auston Sturgis.

Of all her roles, perhaps none were more important to her than being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Saundra’s family meant the world to her, and her grandchildren were the light of her life. Her love and care will be forever cherished by those she leaves behind.

The Adkin’s family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at 12pm followed by a service with Steve Pittman officiating at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Rd. Rock Hill SC. Burial will take place immediately after the service at Grandview Memorial Park – Cherry Road.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Saundra’s name to American Cancer Society.
