Shannon Oxendine Bennett

February 14, 1983 – July 22, 2026 (Age 43)

Shannon Oxendine Bennett, 43, of Monroe, North Carolina, entered the presence of her Lord on July 22, 2026.

Born February 14, 1983, in Monroe, North Carolina, Shannon was the beloved daughter of Chrissie Oxendine and the late Tracy Oxendine Sr. A proud graduate of Sun Valley High School, Class of 2001, Shannon later earned her general associate’s degree through Penn Foster.

Shannon dedicated much of her professional life to the gaming industry, where she built lasting friendships and earned the respect of everyone she worked with. She had an incredible ability to make people feel welcome, and her kindness, honesty, and infectious personality left a lasting impression on coworkers and guests alike.

To know Shannon was to know laughter. Her laugh could light up an entire room, and her personality was larger than life. She loved trying her luck at the casino, especially when it came to her family's lucky numbers—and she always seemed convinced she knew exactly which ones were going to hit. Whether she won or lost, only Shannon could pull something like that off.

More than anything, Shannon found joy in giving. She never needed a special occasion to buy someone a gift or do something thoughtful for the people she loved. Making others smile was one of her greatest gifts. She also had a remarkable way with children. With just a look or a few words, she could straighten out any of the kids in a heartbeat, and they loved her for it.

Shannon's greatest pride and deepest love were her children and grandchildren. She leaves behind a family who will forever cherish her memory: her sons, Masson Bennett (fiancée Raina Eckersley) and Landon Oxendine; her daughters, Brooklyn and Karmen Baskin; her beloved grandchildren, Karter Bennett, Huntleigh Murtorff, and Banks Bennett.

She is also survived by her loving mother, Chrissie Oxendine and her beloved stepfather, Timmy Oxendine; her brothers, Tracy Oxendine Jr. (Allison Cook) and Steven; her sister, Tina Drake; her niece and nephews, Jordon, Dakota "Shizu", Reagan, and Bryce Oxendine; her great-niece, Tinsley Mae Oxendine Lowder; and countless extended family members and dear friends whose lives were forever touched by her love.

Shannon was preceded in death by her father, Tracy Oxendine Sr.; her maternal grandparents, Stan and Doris Fouts.; and her brother, Jason "Tar Baby" Simpson.

She also leaves behind her faithful dog, Ellie, and her mischievous kitten, Jäger, who brought her endless smiles.

Shannon's absence leaves a space that can never truly be filled. We can only imagine the joy of her being greeted with open arms by her daddy, her brother Tar Baby, her grandparents, and so many other loved ones who had gone before her as they walked with her into the golden streets of Heaven.

This is not goodbye. It's simply, "Until we see you again." Until that day, we carry your memory in our hearts, hold tight to the love you gave us, and cherish every laugh, every story, and every moment we were blessed to share with you. We love you more than words could ever express, and we look forward to the day we meet again on those golden streets...
