Shirley Bruce
February 9, 1935 – February 15, 2026 (Age 91)
ROCK HILL – Shirley F. Bruce, age 91, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026, at the Levine & Dickson Hospice House at Southminster in Pineville, North Carolina. She is now with her Lord, and with her husband of more than 50 years, Bobby.
Mrs. Bruce was born in the Dudley community of Pageland, SC. She graduated from high school and attended insurance school after graduating. She worked in the insurance industry including employment at General Realty & Insurance Corp. in Charlotte, NC, Heirs Clarkson in Rock Hill, SC, and Sprouse and Associates in Rock Hill, SC.
She was a long-time active member of First Baptist Church in Rock Hill, SC where she sang in the choir. She was a doting grandmother to her two grandchildren, Wells and Clara, who called her Nana and Nanny. She was a wonderful friend to many, amazing cook and avid gardener and reader.
She is survived by her son, Robert “Robbie” A. Bruce, her daughter-in-law, Sheri G. Bruce, her daughter, Amy C. Bruce, her sister, Sally Ann Cato, her brother, Johhny W. Funderburk, her grandson, Wells A. Bruce and granddaughter, Clara L. Bruce, her niece Patsy Ard, great-niece Beth McCormick and Beth’s husband Andy McCormick, two grand-dogs Marley and Riggs, and other family members.
She is preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, Robert “Bobby” B. Bruce, her father, Preston Wells Funderburk and mother, Alma Lillian Funderburk, and brother, Sammy Funderburk.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:20 pm on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at First Baptist Church, 481 Hood Center Drive, Rock Hill, SC 29730. A Funeral Service will take place at 2:30 pm, followed by the interment at Grandview Memorial Park – Cherry Road, 620 S. Cherry Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
