Cumberland, MD- Shirley Lou Geary, 93, of Cumberland, MD passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2025.

Born July 19, 1932 in Cumberland, MD, Mrs. Geary was the daughter of the late Russell Lucas Livengood, Sr. and Julia Grace (McCreary) Livengood. She was also preceded in death by her brothers: Russell L. Livengood, Jr. and wife, Doris; and Ronald E. (Jack) Livengood and wife, Patricia; and nephew, Eric Livengood. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Shirley graduated from Allegany High School in the class of 1950. Over the years, she remained active with her graduating class. She helped organize class reunions, monthly luncheons, and class trips. She corresponded with class members and enjoyed maintaining the friendships over the years.

Shirley was employed by the A&P/ Super Fresh Food Markets for over 40 years and was the former co-owner of Sunshine Center Laundromat. At the time of her death, she was the oldest and longest surviving member at First Baptist Church, Cumberland, MD where she had attended since she was 2 years old.

Shirley and her husband, Glenn (who passed away in February 2025) were married for 74 years and they loved spending time with their family and attending all of their grandsons’ and great grandchildren's activities. Shirley loved spending time with her extended family at all the Geary/Livengood family get togethers. She especially enjoyed her weekly visits from her nephew, Mark and Kathy reminiscing over family picture albums and enjoying Mark’s delicious bakery treats. Her weekly hair appointments with Tina Hankinson was a special time for Shirley, and she always enjoyed the conversations and memories shared.

Shirley is survived by her daughter: Karen Sue Irons and husband, Bruce; her grandsons: Jeremy Irons and wife, Meredith; and Jonathan Irons and wife, Alyssa; her great grandchildren: Dylan, Adalynn, Bryson, and Brennan Irons; her nieces: Carole Livengood; and Sandy Armstrong and husband, Bill; her nephews: Dr. John Livengood; and Mark Livengood and wife, Kathy; and a lifelong family friend: Tom Woods.

Friends will be received at Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD on Wednesday, October15, 2025, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Randall Larry officiating.

Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Irons, Jonathan Irons, Dylan Irons, Bryson Irons, Brennan Irons, and Daniel Armstrong. Honorary Pallbearer will be Adalynn Irons.

The Geary family would like to thank the staff at Complete Care at Dawnview for the wonderful care given to Shirley over the last 4 months and our special caregivers for the compassion and love they showed to our family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Shirley’s name to the Union Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 1614, Cumberland, MD, or to the First Baptist Church, 212 Bedford Street, Cumberland, MD 21502.
