Shirley Williams Stegall
September 21, 1934 - July 24, 2024 (Age 89)
Shirley Williams Stegall died Saturday, July 27th, peacefully in her home. Shirley was the eldest of four children, born to the late Vernon and Mildred Williams. She was very active in her community and was one of the founding members of Dobys Bridge Presbyterian Church. Shirley often taught Sunday School and led countless youth groups. Shirley graduated from Indian Land High School and went on to serve over 20 years as an Administrative Assistant for several United States Congressmen. During her lifetime she enjoyed camping, gardening, and anything to do with nature and history, but one of her greatest passions in life was travel. Visiting over 30 countries, she enjoyed immersing herself in different cultures and new adventures. However, the one thing Shirley valued above all else was her family. She dedicated her life to her family, spending every weekend, holiday, and vacation together. Shirley was the widow of John Richard Stegall, to whom she was married for nearly 70 years. Surviving are her daughters, Kim Threatt of Fort Mill, SC, Pam Pittman (Donald) of Fort Mill, SC and Ellen Hitchens (Ben) of Fort Mill, SC, six grandchildren, Adam Threatt, John-Ross Threatt, Cory Threatt, Lexi Pittman, Hayden Hitchens, and Carly Hitchens; and nine great-grandchildren. Shirley is also survived by her younger brother Eddie Williams (Lynda) and her nephew Derrick Helms. The family will receive friends Saturday, August 3rd, 2024, from 1:00 until 1:45 pm in the fellowship hall at Dobys Bridge Presbyterian Church. Her memorial service will follow in the sanctuary at 2pm with Reverend Steve Austin officiating. Donations may be made to Dobys Bridge Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 1028, Fort Mill, SC 29716.
