Sidney O. Murdock

Sidney O. Murdock, 73, of Rock Hill, South Carolina, passed away on February 27, 2026, at White Oak Manor York nursing home.
He was born on April 27, 1952, to the late Thomas Eugene Murdock and Melissa Daniels Murdock. Sidney was preceded in death by his brothers, Alvin Thomas Murdock and William Daniels Murdock.
He was a lifelong learner, holding a high school diploma from Rock Hill High School (Class of 1970), a Bachelor of Science degree from Liberty University (Class of 2017), a Master of Religious Education from Liberty University (Class of 2020) and a Doctor of Ministry from Jacksonville Theological Seminary (Class of 2022).
Sidney was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran, having served for seven years as an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist and Vocational Advisor Training Specialist.
Sidney was a dedicated member of Nazareth Baptist Church, where he served as an Associate Minister, Trustee and Sunday School Instructor. His ministry was a central part of his life and he touched many through his spiritual guidance and commitment to the community.
Sidney is survived by his beloved spouse, LaChun A. Ellison Murdock; his sister, Cora Ann Murdock Pitts (Hurbert) of Flint, Michigan; his four children, Natasha Donyetta Murdock of Raleigh, NC, Melissa Dawn Murdock of Walterboro, SC, Angela Renee Murdock of Rock Hill, SC and Sidney Isaac Murdock of Rock Hill, SC. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Roman Robinson, Autumn Murdock (Robinson), and Ian Murdock (Robinson).
Sidney is further survived by his in-laws: Roy Ann Ellison Gaither of Winnsboro, SC, Warren Barber of Rock Hill, SC, Rev. Willie J.
Ellison (Star) of Rock Hill, SC, Juanita Ellison Mayer (Eugene) of Savannah, GA, MacArthur Ellison of West Palm Beach, FL, and Rev. Leroy Ellison, Jr. of Aurora, CO, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
