Sonja Merritt Helms, age 86, of Fort Mill, SC, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Atrium Health Pineville. The family is hosting a graveside service that will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at Grandview Memorial Park in Rock Hill, SC. The visitation will be at 3 p.m. on February 26th, 2025, at 105 Brickyard Road, in Fort Mill, SC. Born in Los Angeles, she was the daughter of the late John Louis Merritt and Clemence Janette Griffin. She was an employee of Celanese Textile Plant where she was a Lab Analyst. She enjoyed going on camping trips, laying in the sun at the beach and spending time with her family and friends. Surviving are her children, Debbie James, Karen Kohut (Sandy), Laura Bailey (Robert); grandchildren, Jennifer Jonah, Chrissy McCurry (Kyle), Matthew Kohut; and great-grandchildren, Colton Jonas, Addison Jonas, Damon Farrari, Carson McCurry.
