February 27, 1963 – February 25, 2026 (Age 62)

Stephen “Steve” Frederick Suchan, age 62, of Canal Winchester, OH, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. He was born February 27, 1963, in Bellaire, OH to the late Stephen and Josephine Suchan.

Steve is survived by his wife of 30 years, Susan (Grandstaff) Suchan; his children, Anthony (Kelby) Suchan, and Emily Suchan; his siblings Carma Peeples, Carol Suchan, Michael (Sue) Suchan, Antoinette Bommer, and Stephanie (Joe) Mellott. As well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Steve graduated from Bellaire High School in 1981. He began his career with Big Bear. He later transitioned to Giant Eagle, where he dedicated more than 20 years as a manager/team leader. Throughout his career, Steve was respected and admired as a leader who exemplified sacrifice, dedication, and unwavering loyalty to both his team and his work.

Outside of his career, Steve cherished time spent with his family. As a Christian, his faith was a steady foundation in his life and guided the way he loved and served others. He enjoyed gardening, biking, fishing and watching sports - often with a dog happily settled in his lap. He was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes. Steve and Susan also shared a love of travel, finding joy in exploring new places and visiting national parks, as well as touring historical naval battleships and military sites. One of Steve’s favorite destinations was Hilton Head Island.

Steve’s kindness, wisdom, and humor will be deeply missed by those who called him husband, father, family, and friend. The world is simply lesser without him in it.

Family and friends may call from 2:00 - 4:00pm and 6:00 - 8:00pm on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at Dwayne R. Spence Funeral Home, 650 W Waterloo St., Canal Winchester, OH 43110 . A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm. on Monday, March 2, 2026, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Steve’s name to the National Kidney Foundation or Mount Carmel Hospice.
