Steven Marshall Fadley

November 19, 1969 - August 12, 2021 (Age 51)

Cumberland, MD- Steven Marshall Fadley, 52, of Cumberland, quietly slipped into the arms of Jesus. Holding his hands was his sister, Marsha Jeanne Wolford, and Aunt Mary Louise Simpson. Although unseen, in the room also were his previously departed parents, Naomi Jean Fadley and Marshall Beddows Fadley, waiting to take their son’s hand on his walk into Heaven.

Steve was born in Cumberland, November 19, 1969, and went to Allegany High School, learned auto mechanics in school and by working on his own race cars. The driveway at his parent’s house was often crowded with friends either helping work on his race cars or just enjoying the fun. He started racing at a young age, was a participant in every race for many years and had quite a few wins in his time. Fadley Racing was often seen heading to another race.

Steve drove big rigs for a living and currently had been working for D&R Trucking, Hyndman, PA., for several years. In previous years, along with driving truck, he worked as a school bus driver for elementary kids. The kids all loved him, it was hilarious and touching to read all the cards the kids would give him on holidays and sometimes just because he was such a great guy. The cards always came with candy or other treats. Steve also played Santa Claus on many occasions and was entirely convincing to the children in attendance. Steve was known and loved by all, he never met a stranger and was always willing to offer a helping hand. His generosity and kindness were often the first descriptions given by many who knew him.

Steve was funny, was always fun to be around, always something exciting going on if he was in the mix. Steve loved riding his Harley, he was known for his big truck, his big Harley and his big dog, Tito. Steve had a big personality, so he had to have big things for it to fit in.

Steve was the current President of ABATE of Western Maryland, Inc., for three years, a member for over 12 years, also filling the position of Sergeant of Arms, Vice President and finally President. His passion was ABATE and its members who also became brothers and sisters to him over the years. The numerous charity rides, toy drives many other good deeds the good people of ABATE, along with Steve, provided through the years was much benefit to many. Steve was proud of his association with his fine organization and great group of people. He viewed them all as family and loved them as he was loved. He will be greatly missed by his brothers and sisters of ABATE as they continue to honor his memory.

In addition to his sister, Marsha, his aunt, Mary Louise, and Tito, Steve leaves behind his nephews, Aaron Wolford, Jr., and wife Rose, Justin Wolford and wife Kelli, several great-nephews and nieces, his uncles William Simpson, and Harold Border and their children, his cousins along with many cousins from the Fadley side of the family.

Viewing and service will be held at Scarpelli’s in Cresaptown on Thursday, August 19, 2021, beginning at 11am to 2pm with a memorial service to begin immediately after with Pastor Sam Seletyn officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers are Eric Bittner, Jason Lee, Chris Darber, Ray Johnson, Robert Shipley and Mike Cessna. Honorary pallbearers are Sean Boyce, Jeff Printy, Donnie Trexler, Fred Slider, Joe Smith, Mike Crosby and Lee Livengood.

The family is thankful for all the friends and relatives who cared for and loved Steve, especially his brothers and sisters from ABATE who took on so much of the work to ensure Steve’s last ride would be a memorable one. Life is short, never predictable, why do we keep forgetting that? Make the most of the time God gives you, life is precious. Take the time to tell your loved ones they matter, they’re loved. May God bless and keep all those who loved Steven and give comfort to them for their loss.
