Steven S. Byer

Steven Stanley Byer, 82, resident of Lions Rehab Center, died on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
Born April 8, 1944, in Cumberland, he was the son of Frank J. and Emily (Bane) Byer of LaVale.
Steven lived in LaVale most of his life. Following the death of his mother, Steven moved to The Kensington before moving to the Lions Center this past year.
Steven was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Linda C. Croft, along with his beloved grandparents, Stanley and Virginia Bane and John and Cora Byer. He is survived by his brother-in-law, Charles L. Croft, Jr. (Sherry).
Steven attended Penn Avenue School and was a member of LaVale Baptist Church.
Steven was an avid train and airplane buff, enjoying many trips to Washington, D.C. to watch the airplanes.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., Cumberland, on
Thursday from 11 AM until 1 PM. The funeral service will follow at 1 PM, with Pastor Jim Jeffries, officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
