Susan Alice Knisley
June 29, 1948 - April 2, 2022 (Age 73)
Cumberland, MD- Susan Alice Knisley, 73, of Cumberland, MD passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
Born June 29, 1948 in Charleston, WV, Ms. Knisley was the daughter of the late William Daniel Grafton and Alice Iola (Beatty) Grafton; and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Susan was a graduate of Fort Hill High School Class of 1966 and also from Catherman’s Business School. She retired from MD Department of Veterans Affairs as a Veteran Service Officer with 40 years of service. She was responsible for Allegany and Garrett Counties. She loved her Veterans and helped so many through the years. She went above and beyond for each person and touched so many lives.
Susan was also a real estate agent for different agencies in the area for 40 years; a number of those years she worked for Jimmy Diamond, Owner of Goodfellow Agency. She loved animals and had many four legged companions through the years. Her dream was to own an animal rescue and she was working toward that goal by establishing Beatty’s Retreat, LLC. As a kid she loved butterflies and in the past few years was able to really enjoy the beauty of them by visiting the butterfly atrium in Hershey, PA
Susan is survived by her daughters: Susan Knisley and Allison Knisley; an uncle: Bernard Beatty; and her cousins: Connie Shanholtz; George “Butch” and Cindy Shanholtz; Tess Custer and husband Tom, and Dinah Riggleman and husband Ronnie; and her tribe of animals, including: Jelly Bean, Angel, Buttons, Whiskers and Tinker Bell, etc.
Friends will be received at Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, on Friday, April 8, 2022 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. A funeral will begin at 1:00 P.M.
Entombment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be: Blane Davis, Chris Davis, Tom Kilduff, Mark Reeder, Gene Arbogast, and Ray Beall.
