Susan L. Gavaghan

Susan L. (Black) Gavaghan, 75, of Charleroi (Carroll Twp.), passed away at home on Monday December 29, 2025. Susan was born in Pittsburgh on April 8, 1950, a daughter of the late John W. and Clara (Moore) Black. After her graduation in 1968 from the former Monongahela High School, she married her high school sweet heart, James Gavaghan on July 19, 1968. Susan returned to school and graduated from the Washington Hospital School of Nursing in 1981 and immediately began working at the Monongahela-Valley Hospital as a registered nurse until her retirement in 2021. She is survived by her husband Jim, two daughters Bethany and husband David Bove of Carroll Twp. and Brennan and husband Mark Gaydos of Latrobe; three grandchildren Ian Gavaghan, Issac (Kailey) Gavaghan, Bailee Bove (Nick Lytle), Rylee Bove (Aaron Carr) and Nico Bove, two great grandchildren Reese Lytle and Colton Gavaghan along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter Rebecca Gavaghan and two sisters Debbie McFadden and Martha Curotola. Friends will be received at the Marshall Marra Funeral Home, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, 724-258-6767 from 4-8pm Friday January 2, 2026 where final goodbyes will begin at 11am Saturday. Interment will follow in Mon-Valley Memorial Park, Donora.
