Theo Stebelton

Theo Stebelton, age 83, went to walk with Jesus Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2021. She was born on April 19, 1938 to Stewart and Dondus (Storts) Coleman, of Canal Winchester, Ohio.

A beloved wife, Momma, Gram, sister, and friend to many in the Lithopolis and Bloom Township area, Theo was raised on the family farm on Alspach Road and was a graduate of the Canal Winchester High School Class of 1956. Theo worked at the bank in downtown Canal Winchester where she met Harold “Bill” Stebelton, who became her husband and euchre nemesis of 50+ wonderful years. Together they raised, and are survived by, sons Jim (Judy) Stebelton and Bill Stebelton, and daughter Carol (Barry, deceased) Black. The greatest joy in her life was being the best Gram to Christina (Vic) Reed, Mariah( Martin) Overholt, Caitlyn (Ryan) Tietje, and Haley (John England) Black, Grace, Garrett and Giulia Reed.

Survived by sisters Joan Campbell and Dolores Hoffman, brothers-in-law Paul Stebelton and Carl Stebelton, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends who will miss her happy smiles and all those cookies. She was champion vegetable soup maker and hug giver extraordinaire.

Theo was a 60+ year member of the Hoy/Lithopolis United Methodist Church and Ladies Dorcus Circle; a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Reber Chapter, the Lithopolis American Legion Auxiliary; former head cook at Bloom Carroll Local Schools, and proud founding member of the first Bloom Township Volunteer Emergency Medical Squad. It’s safe to say Theo fed most of the people in the Bloom Township and Lithopolis area at least once in their lives either at school, at church, at Masonic Lodge/Eastern Star dinners, or at the annual fireman’s Memorial Day Fish Fry (all those baked beans…).

Theo will be greatly missed by those who loved her so very much. Rest In Peace Momma, you fought a helluva good fight. Save us all a seat at the euchre table. We’ll bring the soup…and to the rest of us, as Mom would tell us (multiple times), “Be careful going home ??”.

Friends may visit 4-8 pm Monday, October 25 at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 650 W. Waterloo St., Canal Winchester. Funeral service will be held 10:30 am Tuesday, October 26 at the Lithopolis United Methodist Church, 80 Market St., Lithopolis, OH 43136 with Pastor Alex Feldman officiating. Interment will follow at Franklin Hills Memory Gardens.
