Thomas Hotchkiss
May 30, 1940 – April 10, 2026 (Age 85)
Thomas L. Hotchkiss, 85, of Rawlings, MD, went to be with our Lord on Friday, April 10, 2026. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Born May 30, 1940 in Cumberland, MD, Tom grew up in Mt. Savage, MD and moved to Rawlings, MD in 1975. He was a 1958 graduate of LaSalle High School in Cumberland, MD.
Tom had many jobs in the area, and retired from Westvaco after 35 years of service as the Transportation Manager. Along with his wife, he was a devoted member of Annunciation of Our Lord Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, where he held the title of Grand Knight. He served as Fire Chief of Mount Savage Vol. Fire Department. Tom was an avid hunter and often went deer hunting with his brother, David. He also loved to play golf in his spare time, along with doing woodworking.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Richard C. and Helena M. (Diehl) Hotchkiss; infant brother, John C. Hotchkiss; brother, James R. Hotchkiss; sister Margaret Ann Burkett, and infant grandson, Kody Hotchkiss.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Louise (Brailer) Hotchkiss; daughters, Diane Sodders and spouse, Michele Haller and spouse; son, Jeff Hotchkiss and fiancé; 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; brother, David Hotchkiss and spouse; sister, Jeannie Emerick and spouse; numerous nieces and nephews and his great friend, Bob Heltzel.
In accordance with his wishes he will cremated and there will be no funeral services.
