Thomas J. Meskey
February 18, 1953 - October 28, 2024 (Age 71)
THOMAS J. MESKEY, known as Tom to his friends and family, passed away after an illness at age 71 in his home in Lancaster, PA on October 28, 2024, with his loving and devoted wife, Lorna Silva Meskey, by his side.
Tom was born on February 18, 1953, the son of the late Lillian Judge and Joseph Meskey in Scranton, PA, and later lived in Gettysburg, Reading, Quarryville, and Lancaster. He graduated from Scranton Central High School in 1975 and earned a B.S. in Sociology from the University of Scranton in 1974.
He is survived by his wife, Lorna; his five children, Margaret Meskey, of Pittsburgh, Elizabeth Meskey, of Lancaster, Dr. Thomas Meskey, of York, Edward Meskey, of Quarryville, and Katherine Meskey, of Philadelphia; his brother, Joe Meskey, of Tampa, and his sister, Eileen Haines of Harrisonburg, VA. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Grace Meskey, Leah Meskey, and Malcolm Daniels, as well as his former spouse and mother of his children, Christine O’Gorman.
In 1982, Tom joined the ServiceMaster corporation and served 20+ years with the firm in senior management roles, including that of Health Care Engineering Director. This was the start of a highly successful 40-year career for Tom in facilities and safety management in the healthcare world. He subsequently served as Director of Facilities and Safety Officer for the Lancaster Regional Medical Center before retiring from the healthcare field in 2018.
Friends and family remember Tom as an avid boatsman and fisherman, happiest when he was cruising with family and friends in his boat on the Chesapeake Bay. Friends remember Tom as a skilled mechanic and musician, having played guitar in bands in his early years in Scranton, and he had a lifelong love for music that he shared with those around him.
A funeral service and blessings for Tom will be held at 10:00 am on Sunday, November 10th at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home at 3110 Lititz Pike in Lititz, PA.
