Thomas Jefferson Carter

February 20, 1940 - May 28, 2022 (Age 82)

Thomas Jefferson (Jeff) Carter, 82 of Stallings, NC passed away peacefully into the Arms of His Savior on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at the Solace Hospice House in Asheville, NC.

The son of Thomas Jefferson and Queenie Roberts Carter, Jeff was born in Leaksville, NC. Soon thereafter, the family moved to Charlotte where Jeff grew up and graduated from Harding High School. Upon graduation, he answered his country’s call to service and enlisted in the United States Army where he served two tours as a paratrooper stationed in Germany before receiving an honorable discharge.

Jeff worked for and retired from the United States Postal Service where he was the liaison officer between the airport and the USPS system. In 1989, he met the love of his life, Linda and they celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary shortly before his passing. They enjoyed traveling and seeing much of the world together, and many of those trips were shared with family and friends.

Combining his love of sports and coaching, he coached CYAC (Charlotte Youth Athletic Club) football as well as serving as president of the CYAC before moving on to officiating all sports.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Jeff (Lisa) Carter; son, Nick (Jeynne) Carter and their son Jefferson; son, Chris Harmon; grandchildren Heather (Luis) Galvan and their children Isabella and Emerson; Brandon Covington and his children Nevaeh, Olivia and Camila; Justin Covington and his children Mila, Nova and Eden; Chance Covington, Brianna Harmon and Josiah Annichino. Jeff is also survived by his sister, Glenna Carter James. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Carrie Harmon; and sister, Corinne Haynes.

Jeff’s family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for him and for them. A service celebrating the life of our beloved “BoBo” will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, June 7, at the funeral home, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, NC 28105. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment with military honors will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Charlotte.
