Thomas Kinney

September 18, 1935 - January 25, 2026 (Age 90)

Thomas Robert Kinney, 90, of Westerville, Ohio, passed away on January 25, 2026, at Westerville Senior Living. Born on September 18, 1935, in Dayton, Ohio, he was the son of Thomas J. Kinney and Margaret L. (Rine) Kinney, who preceded him in death.

Tom was a proud graduate of Stivers High School and a United States Army veteran. After relocating from Dayton to Columbus, he built a long and dedicated career in the production printing industry, including many years with Xerox as a film stripper.

In 1970, Tom married Judith C. Willard. Together they welcomed their daughter, Maggie, who survives him, along with her husband, Andrew Schooler, and their son, Samuel (Rae) Schooler. Tom is also survived by his son, Robert (Diana) Kinney; step daughter, Melissa Hawley; grandchildren, Terri (Matt) Nisbet and Sean Kinney; great grandchild, Allie Nisbet; and his brother, Timothy (Darlene) Kinney. He will also be fondly remembered by many nephews and nieces who dearly knew him as “Uncle Ralph.”

Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judy, and his sister, Rita (Louis) Boesenberg.

A lover of the outdoors, Tom devoted countless hours to cultivating the trees, gardens, and lawn of his family’s Pickerington home. After he and Judy retired, they relocated to Westerville, where he continued to enjoy an active lifestyle. Over the years, Tom embraced weight lifting, running, and golfing, but it was cycling that brought him his greatest joy. He treasured the many adventures he shared with his fellow cycling enthusiasts on trails spanning hundreds of miles across Ohio.

Tom will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and neighbors.

Interment will be private for the family and will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. A celebration of life service will be scheduled at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that a tree be planted or a donation made to the Arbor Day Foundation in Tom’s memory.
