Thomas Lee Lantz

January 17, 1943 - October 29, 2024 (Age 81)

Reverend Thomas “Tom” Lee Lantz made Heaven his home in the early morning on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Brenda Jill (Dodds) Lantz; their children, Tami, Keith and wife Laura, Karyn, Tiffany and fiancé Steven, Prince, and their spiritual daughter, Sasha; grandchildren, Kasandra, Ralphie, Kaylee and husband Alexander- and first expected great-grandchild, Margaret “Maggie”, Brayden, Avery, Thomas, Reichen, Phoenix, Zanalove, Nakiyah, and Brendan; brothers, Robert and wife Mary, and Timothy and wife Kimberly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Manervia Akinson Lantz; and brothers, Ronald, Paul, Jack, and Bruce (Billy) Lantz.

Rev. Lantz served in the US Navy for 6 years. He is a graduate of Mt. Savage High School, Mt. Savage, MD and Southeastern University, Lakeland, FL.

Tom worked as a meat cutter for 10 years for the Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company before his college days. While in college, he was the Bus and Visitation Pastor at First Assembly of God in Lakeland, FL for 4 years. After graduation, he and his family moved back to Cumberland, MD, and he was the Bus and Visitation Pastor at Central Assembly of God for 7 years. He then moved on to becoming Senior Pastor of Covenant Assembly of God in Tuscaloosa, AL for 2 years. He spent 9 years as the Senior Pastor at Calvary Assembly of God in Fort Ashby, WV before beginning his ultimate pastoral assignment. Rev. Tom, along with his wife Brenda, were missionaries to Jamaica for 14 years and retired in 2008.

Pastor Lantz, returned to the USA following retirement, and continued his focus on volunteer ministries. His main ministry was “Jamaica for Jesus”, where he raised money to purchase materials to build and repair churches in Jamaica.

Friends will be received at Central Assembly of God, Cumberland, on Monday, November 4, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 PM and on Tuesday from noon-1:00 PM.

The funeral service will be conducted in the church on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at 1:00 PM, with Pastor David Ewen officiating.

Entombment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, where military honors will be accorded by Ft. Cumberland Post #13 Veterans Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given to the Jamaica for Jesus fund at 2020 Bedford Street, Cumberland, MD 21502. Please mark in the memo, “Jamaica for Jesus.”
