Tommy H. Starnes Sr.

October 25, 1941 - September 9, 2025 (Age 83)

Tommy Henry Starnes, Sr. (Pete), 83, of Charlotte, NC, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Charlotte, NC, to the late Herbert and Sadie Starnes.

Pete grew up in Charlotte where he was in the first graduating class at Garinger High School. He was an independent truck driver for over 40 years. He also worked with his son in the pallet business and was an amazing truck salesman.

He was a loving and devoted husband to his loving bride, Brenda for 61 years. He was an amazing father, grandfather and great grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Donald, Howard, Billy, Ted and Edwin.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda; his sister, Peggy Cuthbertson; his children, Tommy Jr. (Pam), Tammy, and Jennifer: his grandchildren, Trey (Kaitlin), Meghan (Heyward), Jackie (Tyler), Jessica (Joshua), Shelby (Jonathan), Zachary, and Brooke; and his great grandchildren, Nash, Sadie, Elin, Xander, Emerson, Hayes, Austin, Mack, Lainey Rae, and Baby Waller.

Dad was a loving and generous person. He would give you his time and energy without a thought. With a heart and spirit bigger than life itself, he touched others with his kindness and has a gift for turning strangers into family. To his family, his love was unconditional and knew no bounds. He Was larger than life to his children. Daddy, we will miss you more than we could ever say. You were our rock and foundation. We are proud to be your family and will continue to make you proud.

A visitation to honor Pete’s life will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 11:00 to 12:00 pm at McEwen Funeral Service–Mint Hill Chapel, located at 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill, North Carolina, with a funeral service following at 12:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Tommy will be laid to rest during a committal service at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Mint Hill, North Carolina.
