Travis Dennison

Travis Drew Dennison, 44, a dedicated police officer and beloved family man, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025, with his wife by his side, and after a courageous battle against brain cancer. Travis was born on September 10, 1981, to Shelly McQuigg and Gary Dennison.
Travis was a 2000 graduate of Mount Vernon High School. Travis lived a life full of purpose, service, and adventure. He began his career in law enforcement in 2002 at the Knox County Sheriff’s Department, where he proudly served his community before continuing his career in 2007 with the Powell Police Department. His commitment to protecting others was evident in everything he did. His work reflected his integrity, compassion, and unwavering dedication to helping others. He was twice recognized as Officer of the Year, and he was regarded as an invaluable member of the Powell law enforcement team.
Outside of his career, Travis had many passions that brought joy to both him and those around him. He loved working on and customizing cars. He started his hobby at the young age of 16, when he transformed a 1989 Ranger into a "work of art" and he named it, “April.” "April" was an award-winning piece of art and was showcased in multiple magazines. Travis and Rachel even used it as a highlight in their wedding in 2011. He also enjoyed the outdoors, fast cars, off road adventures, and spending time camping with family and friends. His adventurous spirit led him to explore new places and to make lasting memories wherever he went.
Family meant everything to Travis. He had the biggest heart and loved each of his family members unconditionally. He showed an unwavering amount of love for his beloved wife, Rachel and daughter, Teigan. His love for his nieces and nephews will always be unmatched. He took pride in hosting holidays, bringing everyone together with laughter and warmth. Travis will be remembered for his kindness, selflessness, and love for life. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched and the memories he created with those he loved most.
Travis was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Patricia and Marvin McQuigg and paternal grandparents Margene and Bill Dennison.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Rachel; daughter, Teigan; his parents, Shelly McQuigg and Gary (Laura) Dennison; sister, Erin (Matthew) Lawson; brother, Chad (Julie) Dennison; sister, Lindsay (Jon) Curry; eight nieces and nephews, Owen, Kaylee, Carter, Sawyer, Kinley, Logan, Brynn, and Leo; mother in-law and father in-law's, Tish and Rusty Foley; brother in-law, Stephen (Miranda) Foley.
A funeral service honoring the life of Travis Drew Dennison will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2025, in the LifePoint Church in Delaware, Ohio with Pastor Kale Booher officiating. Entombment will follow at the Northlawn Memorial Gardens, Westerville, where Police Funeral Honors will be accorded. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Wednesday, October 29, the evening before the service from 4:00-8:00 p.m.
