She married Ray Lyle Rumsey on June 26, 1949. She was a gifted piano teacher and singer, creative homemaker, and devoted wife and mother.

Verginia was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Ray.

She is survived by her sons, Greg (Shirley) Rumsey of Ooltewah and Mark (Susan) Rumsey of Charlotte, N.C.; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
