Verna M. Samery

Verna M. (Pedder) Samery, 96, of Ardara, died Sunday, April 19, 2026. She was born January 13, 1930 in Ardara, a daughter of the late John and Lillian (Schickel) Pedder and was also preceded in death by her husband Charles D. Samery, a brother William Pedder, and two sisters Ruth Brown and Clara Willett. Verna was recently honored as the oldest member of the Ardara Evangelical Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon and former Sunday School secretary. She is survived by her children Amy (A. J.) Fergelec of Ardara and Diana Torti and Charles B. (Terri) Samery; seven grandchildren Alex, Aaron, Andy, Ava, Erica, Casey, and B.J.; three great grandchildren; a sister Marcella Grubbs of Ardara; also many nieces and nephews. Friends and family will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 23, at the William Snyder Funeral Home, 521 Main St., Irwin. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 24, in Ardara Evangelical Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Glenn Meyers, officiating. Interment will follow in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park.
