Vida Snyder

Vida Lee Snyder, 80, of Short Gap, WV, was called home to heaven on Saturday, August 28, 2021. She passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born October 24, 1940 in Short Gap, WV, she was the daughter of the late Carl B. “Tubby” Day and Anna Lee (Hiett) Day. She was also preceded in by her nephew, Benjamin “Benjie” Day.
Vida Lee attended Ridgeley High School.
She was a long time member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Short Gap and was a member of the Wesley Chapel Food Pantry and the Women’s Society. She was also a member of the Short Gap Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She worked for the Mineral County Election Board for the Short Gap area.
Vida Lee was the matriarch of our family. She always put our needs before her own. She was an amazing cook and the best mother, grandmother, and even great grandmother anyone could ask for. She was very active in her church and with her church family. You could always count on seeing her beautiful smile as the church greeter on most Sunday Mornings. She loved everyone she met and people loved her.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 63 years, Jerry Snyder, Sr.; her children, Jerry Snyder, Jr. and wife Kelly, Tammy Lee Snyder, and Michelle Dawn Snyder; her sister Carleen Pownell and husband Roger; grandchildren, Michael Humbertson, Joshua Condron, Tony Snyder, and James Overlin. She also had eight great grandchildren with one on the way.
Family and friends will be received at Upchurch Funeral Home, Inc., Fort Ashby, on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 from 6-9 PM.
The funeral service will be conducted at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Short Gap, WV, on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Scott Knowlton, officiating.
Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale, MD.
The family would like to thank Jerry Sidaway and Mountain Hospice for helping make her last days as comfortable as possible.
