Vincent Sigrist

Vincent “Ben” E. Sigrist, 90, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 6, 1934, to the late Herman and Ann (Mehling) Sigrist.

Ben was a 1952 graduate of Rosecrans High school. He played on the school’s first football team as noseguard and was quarterback throwing the pass for the team’s first touchdown. He was an avid sports fan for all the Ohio teams, especially “The Ohio State Buckeyes”. He retired in 1993 from Bethesda Hospital as an Electronic Service Technician after 28 years of service. He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church.

Surviving are his children: Craig (Lori) Sigrist, Deb (Jeff) Wheeler and Terri (Dave) Carletti; six grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; his sisters: Lucy Gribben and Judy Bauerbach; sister-in-law Becky (Denny) Jackman.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Rita (Bryan) Sigrist, who he married June 11, 1955; brothers: Kenny (Betty) Sigrist and Tom (Lois) Sigrist; sisters: Mary (George) Bradley and Doris (Ed) Emmert.

The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to Genesis Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion, while caring for our dad/grandpa during this difficult time.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM, Thursday, February 8, 2024, at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD, ZANESVILLE. The funeral will begin at 11 AM Friday, February 9, in the Snouffer Chapel with Father Martin J. Ralko officiating. Burial will follow in Zanesville Memorial Park.
