Walter Lee Moody Jr.

Walter "Lee" Moody Jr., 79, of Charlotte, North Carolina passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. He was born on February 18, 1944 to Walt and Edith Moody.
Lee was very active in his community. On November 21, 1968, Lee Moody became a Masonic Mason at Derita Lodge #715. Lee was a Past Master of Derita Lodge and was honored with a lifetime membership and was awarded a 50 year of masonry pin from his lodge. Earlier in his service years, Lee was also active in leading the Demolay, a youth group for boys.
On November 10,1979 Lee became a Shriner at Oasis Shrine Headquarters in Charlotte, N.C. He received numerous awards such as the highest award given at Oasis, the Walt Disney Award. Lee was an active member of the Scottish Rite and Mecklenburg Shrine Club.
Lee Moody was an Icon in the Oasis Hillbilly Unit. He was Past Captain of the Parade Unit and was a member of Clan #13 and served on the degree team. For 55 years, Lee has honored the oath of a Mason and Shriner.
He was a coach for the Derita youth sports organization for many years and a scoutmaster for BSA Troop 14. His family was most important to him and he was always there when he was needed. He was generous with his advice and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Lynn Moody.
He is survived by his sons, Rick Moody (Sue), Chris Moody (Leslie), Phil Parks, and Jeff Parks (Jenn); his brother, Sam Moody (Sherry); his sisters, Dolores Wright (Rabbit, deceased) and Kay Uhrmacher (Brad); his grandchildren Jules, Savannah, Karli, Adam, Alaina, and Abby; his great grandchildren, Alice, Remy Rylee, and Raven; and many other loving extended family members.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 pm on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at Wilson Funeral & Cremation Service, 5301 Albemarle Road, Charlotte, NC. A visitation will be held prior from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
