Wendy Nguyen
June 19, 1957 - September 10, 2024 (Age 67)
In loving memory of Wendy Rineer Nguyen (1957-2024).
A loving wife, daughter, sister, mother and grandmother aka "Oma", passed away after a long-fought battle with Ovarian cancer on September 10, 2024.
Wendy was born on June 19, 1957 in Columbia, PA. She was the daughter of Betty Johnson and David Rineer. After graduation from Warren Wilson college, she attended the University of North Carolina at Asheville and achieved her BA in Accounting. She continued her education and earned her Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Montreat College. Over the years, she worked for several international companies in accounting, management and finance, including working for Marsh Properties as a Controller. Through her successful career, she made many dear friends all over the world, and received warm praise and respect from her colleagues.
As a mother and a wife, she devoted her time to building a strong family. Oma was the glue that held the family together, hosting weekly lunch gatherings after Church. She loved her family and she loved God. Her love of God spread to the love of all people where she would always drop what she was doing to help someone in need, and always with a beautiful smile that would light up any room. She chose to always see the good in people and she was the most optimistic person one could ever meet. Oma loved to travel and she made friends everywhere she went. She also loved to do mission trips where she would share the love of God to people in other countries. In addition to travelling, her other hobbies included crafting and gardening.
Wendy is survived by her husband of 47 years, Chaplain Michael Nguyen, her daughter, Mica Worthy (Kyle), her son, Samuel Nguyen (Kathryn), her sister, Cyndi Lampros, her brother, Bruce Rineer, and her grandchildren, Brice and Winston Worthy and Aiden Nguyen.
Wendy will always be remembered for her kindness, for her loving, optimistic, and God-loving personality, and for her joy of life. She will be missed dearly.
The private funeral service for Wendy will be held at Wolfe Funeral Home, with a later Celebration of Life Service to be held at Fort Mill Church of God on October 14, 2024 at 11:00 am. Please join us in celebrating and remembering Wendy's precious life.
