Wesley Timothy Wertz, age 82, of Greensburg, PA born on June 4, 1941, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 26, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Born to the late Wesley T. Wertz and Eva Clark Wertz, Wesley lived a life marked by dedication and love for his family and country.
Professionally, Wes worked for the Tribune Review for 33 years, where he was known for his dedication and hard work. His career was a source of pride and fulfillment, and he made many lasting friendships during his tenure.
Wes was a proud U.S. Army veteran, having served his country with honor and dedication. His time in the military instilled in him a deep sense of duty and patriotism that he carried throughout his life. Throughout his years he was an avid bowler and golfer. He found great joy on the golf course. He loved traveling with his family to Myrtle Beach and all over the world. He was a great story-teller, people watcher and never met a stranger.
Wes was the beloved husband of Bonnie (Farlow) Wertz for 63 wonderful years, a testament to their enduring love and partnership. Together, they built a strong and loving family.
Wes was a devoted father to his daughters, Beth (Jeff) Garver from Mooresville, NC and Kathleen (Mark) Michalczyk from Mt. Pleasant, PA. His role as a father was one of his greatest joys, and he took immense pride in their achievements and the families they built.
As a grandfather, Wes was adored by his grandchildren, Ryan Garver (Maria) from Mooresville, NC, Andrew Garver from Wilmington, NC, and Rachel Garver from Wilmington, NC. He shared a special bond with each of them, imparting wisdom, joy, and love. He was a fantastic great-grandfather to Mia, who brought an extra sparkle to his life in his later years.
Wesley’s life was marked by his dedication to his family, his constant support, and his gentle, kind spirit. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones forever.
Wes was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Fox, Ruth Rebosky, and Jean Harhai.
Friends will be received to honor Wes’s life and legacy from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Thursday, May 30, 2024, at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. A funeral service will begin at 11 AM Friday, May 31, 2024, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Wesley’s name.
