William H. Krause
January 16, 1936 – October 12, 2026 (Age 90)
It is with deep regrets and sadness we must announce the passing of William H. Krause, on Monday, October 12, 2026 at the age of 90.
Bill Krause was affectionately known as Mr. Pottstown, and you would see him almost always walking through Pottstown with his famous rollup blue hat. His love of Pottstown was so great, and he was always looking for something new or different to have in Pottstown. Bill was a councilman for the 4th ward for one term and always attended the Borough Council meetings until Uncle Sam drafted him in 1958.
Bill attended all Pottstown Schools.
He worked for Schultz Baking Co. for 13 years. Then his dream job became available at the Phillies Fire Company, to be a driver for the Phillies Fire Company. He loved his job and worked for 26 years, retiring as a driver, but always a volunteer. While Bill was working at Schultz's Baking Co., he earned the nick name of (Flour). So, if you hear someone talking about Flour, you are a dear friend.
Bill and his wife Sue brought many events to Pottstown, which include an Old Steam Engine pulling passenger cars. This was a huge event and loved by the community. Bill ran the Pottstown 4th of July parade for 28 years, always bringing something new to the parade.
Bill and Sue also started the WWII Dance at Sunnybrook and with the proceeds, bought phone cards for our vets, so they could call home.
Our WWII dance also sponsored 2 buses to the WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C. Such a nice trip and all our vets so appreciated our efforts to do this for them, otherwise they would never get to see their own memorial.
One year when Vietnam was starting to end the conflicts, Bill heard about communities tying yellow ribbons around trees and telephone poles, to welcome back our vets, who were serving in this conflict. These yellow ribbons lit up Pottstown.
Bill was drafted in 1958 to serve in the Army for 3 years. His army slogan was Hell on Wheels.
Bill started a Corvair club called; Pottstown Area Corvair Enthusiasts, known as PACE, and we had 50 plus members. We had these Corvair's up and down the east coast and we even had a few days in Canada. Fun for All!
Bill was the president of the Pottstown Senior Center for 2 terms while they were looking for a new building.
He had a baseball team called, Hart's Plumbing, sponsored by his uncle. They never won too many games, but fun was had by all.
Bill is survived by his wife Susanne and they just celebrated their 62nd anniversary. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Helen Heck and 6 brothers, Paul, Michael, Robert, David, Donald & Jimmy.
Funeral services will be private, and burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Pottstown.
Donations can be made to the Pottstown Historical Society, 568 High Street, Pottstown, PA 19464; Att. Sue Krause, Donation; on the memo line. The Historical Society needs donations to keep Pottstown's history alive.
